Andy L and I got to talking about Amazon.
Somebody posted up in the Montero Owners Group on Facebook asking if anyone had used RCP LED replacement headlight bulbs on Amazon.
Uh, probably not, considering there are now over 50 brands selling LED headlights on Amazon, most of which appear to be cheaply made, Chinese “white label” brands.
Brands like BYOPTO, CCIYU, NSLUMO, TOOGOO(R), and WISWIS, to name a few.
Amazon is owned by Jeff Bezos, who is currently the richest man in the world.
Let me ask you this. If Mr. Bezos wants or needs something — Fast, Right, Cheap. Which two does HE pick?
The richest man in the world doesn’t have to consider price—unless he’s thinking about buying Apple or a country or something like that—so the whole fast-right-cheap thing is useless to him.
He just wants it fast and right. Isn’t that what we all want?
Most of us working class stiffs out here are trying to find the right balance of fast, right, cheap—pick any two, right?
Price is important. We’ve all got to learn to live within our means. But we also need to get out of this race to the bottom.
We need to start valuing quality.
We need to start investing in quality.
If we can’t afford quality, we need to suck it up, modify our spending and saving habits, and do what we have to do to be able to afford quality.
If we don’t, we’re looking at a future where everything we own is a cheap, Chinese knockoff.
A little something I’m working on behind the scenes to come in the future.
